Caradobe is a non-profit organization founded in October of 1998. Our mission is to prevent pet over-population by:

--Promoting spaying/neutering
--Providing support for lost, abandoned, unwanted, neglected, and abused Dobermans
--Offering educational material in Doberman training and nutrition

Caradobe occasionally has mixed breeds for adoption, as well as kittens or cats. We are dedicated, but not limited to, the Doberman Pinscher. Unfortunately, we DO NOT adopt out of state.

All dogs are examined by a vet, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested/preventative, fecal worming, and any other medical needs to bring them to a healthy state of well being.

Also included are microchipping, nutritional natural diets, and living in home environments where they are worked with, played with, and evaluated daily.

Adoption/donation fees are:

$175.00 for purebred Dobermans
$85.00 for mixed breeds
$65.00 for cats/kittens

Our incurred expenses are far greater than the adoption fee. Your contribution will help defer some of our expenses and ensure that our program can continue to work.

Our adoption packet also includes:

--Collar
--ID and Microchip tags
--Nutritional information
--Dog profile
--Medical records
--One month supply of Heartguard
--Sample dog food
and any additional information as needed.

At Caradobe, we require adopters to promise:

--To ensure the dog is maintained on heartworm preventative.
--To keep all immunizations current and updated according to a veterinarian's schedule.
--To license the dog in accordance with the laws and ordinances and to abide by the leash laws and ordinances of the municipality, county, and state in which the adopter lives.
--To keep the dog as a house pet, to be exercised in a fenced yard or on a leash, and not be allowed to roam the streets.
--NOT to allow the dog to ride in the open bed of a pick-up truck.
--NOT to sell, trade, or dispose of the dog in any way, before informing Doberman Rescue, which shall have the option of retaking custody of the dog.
--The dog will NOT be used for any medical or experimental purposes.
--The dog will NOT be kept chained or tied.
--To provide proper care for dog (including, but not limited to, adequate food, shelter, water, veterinary care, and LOVE)
--The dog will NOT be trained or used as an Attack or Guard Dog.
--Doberman Rescue may examine and make inquiry regarding the dog at any time and retake custody of the dog if the adopter fails to abide by the terms of the adoption contract.

We ask that all prospective adopters fill out an Adoption Application first. This gives us at Caradobe information that helps us to better match the dogs to appropriate homes. After the application is reviewed, we will contact you to set up a home visit. This mini-interview allows us to get to know you better, and to see the environment in which the adopted dog will live, which in turn helps us ascertain what dog will be the best match for your household and lifestyle.

Please allow 7-10 days for a representative from Caradobe to contact you. Please remember that our members are volunteers who work full-time jobs and commit to our program because of their love for the breed. Upon reciept of a completed application, we will respond to you as soon as possible.
